PeelAway 1 & 7 Sample Trial Twin Pack Overview

Which Peel Away is the right one for your application? Try PeelAway 1 & 7 Sample Trial Pack.

Both PeelAway 1 & PeelAway 7 Paint Removal Systems are designed for the complete removal of many years worth of layer upon layer of paint in one application.

The PeelAway System is the most reliable & effective method of removing multi-layers of paint from such surfaces without damaging the surface detail.

PeelAway 1 is designed to remove very old toxic lead paints from ornate plaster ceiling and cornices, brickwork, masonry, metals, cast iron and woodwork.

PeelAway 7 is designed to remove strong modern paints & lacquers from woodwork, brickwork, masonry, plaster, hardwoods, stone, metal & marine fibreglass.

Preparation

Areas to be stripped should be cleaned to remove dirt and debris from the surface that may restrict contact & adhesion of the PeelAway poultice. Ensure that any surfaces not intended to be stripped are covered & protected from this product.

Application

Always do a small test area to confirm performance & compatibility before starting any project & follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times.

Test Area

Test patches are vital for this product. Mask off a small area and apply the paste at different thicknesses to determine which thickness is required to remove the layers of paint or varnish. Leave each test area for up to 12 hours & see how effective each has been. It is recommended that 3 test strips are done, 1mm, 2mm and 3mm, before starting the project to determine how much PeelAway is required to be effective.

Application of PeelAway 1

  1. Apply PeelAway 1 with the supplied spatula or a synthetic brush.
  2. Then apply the PeelAway blanket (supplied) over the paste and rub gently to ensure good adhesion & to remove any air bubbles.
  3. The blanket delays the drying process, thus allowing the paste to work more effectively & should be left at least over night or up to 48 hours depending upon the results of the test patches - the more layers of paint, the longer the PeelAway paste should be left.
  4. Once the paste has permeated all of the layers of paint, the blanket can be removed.
  5. A stripping knife can also be used to remove any remaining residual paint from the surface
  6. PeelAway 1 needs neutralising with the supplied PeelAway Neutraliser.

Spray Application

  1. PeelAway 1 can be diluted with water for spray application through an airless spray system such as Wagner, Titan & Graco.
  2. To thin the PeelAway for spraying, add between 10°C and 15°C water (maximum) & mix thoroughly to ensure that the water is evenly mixed with the product.
  3. When spraying PeelAway Paint Remover, always wear protective overalls, goggles & a suitable face mask.

Application of PeelAway 7

PeelAway 7 will work slower under 5°C and will not work if temperature falls below 0°C. This product will not remove baked enamels, cement based paints or some types of 2 pack epoxy coatings.

  1. Apply PeelAway 7 with the provided spatula then cover with the PeelAway blanket
  2. Rub gently to ensure good adhesion & to remove any air bubbles.
  3. Leave blanket between 30 minutes and 48 hours depending upon the results of the test patch.
  4. Once the paste has permeated all of the layers of paint, the blanket can be removed.
  5. A stripping knife can also be used to remove any remaining residual paint from the surface.
