Concrete acid etching solution is an ideal way to prepare concrete surfaces for painting. It will remove surface laitance, which is an easily abraded surface layer. It will also neutralise excess alkalinity in new concrete (must be at least 4 weeks old) and create a key on very smooth concrete surfaces.
Preparation
Concrete surfaces should be clean and degreased before application using detergent wash or steam cleaning. All flaky, loose paint should be scraped & sanded back to a sound edge and rinsed with fresh water before application of our Acid Etch Flooring Solution.
Application
Apply evenly by stiff brush or broom and allow time to react. Two or more applications may be required depending on the amount of laitance present. After the reaction has taken place, the surface should be rinsed with water to remove loose particles and all soluble materials, until the washings are acid free as shown by a suitable indicator paper, and allowed to dry before priming.
